Several midcaps were seen trending this week with some of the mid-caps managing to gain by more than 27 per cent.  

Several small caps traded at record highs while few of the small caps that are constituents of BSE SmallCap managed to jump higher by more than 15 per cent in this week alone. 

The aluminium prices are at elevated levels despite of the weak demand from China. The production uncertainties for Aluminium persist as the smelters operating activities are hampered by the stern environmental norms in China. 

 Few companies with share price below Rs 100 were seen trading at fresh 52-week highs on Friday.

In Friday's trading session, Sensex has managed to cross the 56,000 mark and has settled at 56,124.72 level while Nifty closed above 16,700 level. On the sectoral front, it was a green day as all the sectoral indices ended in green. BSE Smallcap index & BSE Midcap index also ended on a positive note.

BSE Sensex soared by more than 100 points with Ultratech Cement, LT and Dr Reddy’s being the top BSE Sensex gainers. BSE Sensex managed to close above the important 56k levels on Friday.

The global markets were supportive on Friday with European indices trading in green and the US futures signalling a positive start for the markets on Friday.  

 Broader markets outperformed the frontline indices with BSE Midcap Index closing with gain of 1.04 per cent and the BSE SmallCap Index rising by 0.93 per cent. 

Considering that the broader markets continue to outperform the frontline gauge, we expect stock-specific action to continue on D-Street.

Stocks like L&T, TCS and Ultratech Cement are helping the cause as they combinedly have added nearly 32 points to Nifty’s kitty. Meanwhile, the broader market indices were seen outperforming frontline indices with Nifty Midcap 100 and Smallcap 100 advanced by 1.03 and 0.69 per cent, respectively.
