The Indian markets witnessed carnage in Monday's early trade due to weakening in global markets as concerns over the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Also, the crude oil hits USD 96 per barrel reaching a multi-year high. The broad-based indices also saw sell-off on exchanges BSE and NSE with Sensex diving to near 56,600-level and Nifty 50 even reaching near 16,900-level. Buying was seen by FII of Rs 108.53 crore and the DII selling of Rs 696.90 crore was recorded.

The Indian Indices, on February 10, gave a thumbs-up to the RBI's MPC members decision to keep the key policy rates unchanged and continue to maintain the accommodative stance as long as necessary to support the economy amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The repo rate is kept at 4 per cent and the reverse repo rate is unchanged at 3.35 per cent. The BSE Sensex ended the day in red today after small fall of 143 points and closed at 58,644.82 falling by 0.24 per cent. The Sensex MidCap index rose by 73 points and ended the day at 24,704.65 levels. Similarly, the BSE SmallCap is also gained by 12 points and stood at 29,246.05 at day end. Also the Nifty 50 index also jumped by 142 points and closed at 17,605.85. The Bank Nifty has increased by 400 points and ended at 38,010.95.

The RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das heading a six-member Monetary Policy Committee MPC announced the resolution today. 

The RBI kept has decided to keep the repo rate unchanged at 4 per cent. The reverse repo rate stands at 3.35 per cent. The real GDP growth is projected at 7.8 per cent for FY22-23. The FY23 inflation target is reduced to 4.5 per cent. 

The Nifty Bank and Financial Services continued the winning streak on Thursday and rose further after RBI maintained the status quo in line with the street’s expectations. The indexes gained around 1 per cent with financial stocks advancing 1.5 per cent and PSU Bank stocks were subdued in gains. Huge selling was seen by FII of Rs 892.64 crore and the DII of inflow of Rs 1793.35 crore was recorded.
