At 12.45 pm on Thursday, the headline equity indices, i.e. Sensex and Nifty 50 are trading higher on the back of the strong rebound rally in the US markets on Wednesday.  

Between the period of 2018 and 2020, the PSU stocks showed underperformance, owing to lesser flows in exchange-traded funds well as the economy not performing up to the mark. Beating the previous underperformance, the PSU stocks gained momentum after October 2020 with the BSE PSU index soaring around 106 per cent from October 2020 to date. 

In the morning trade, the major equity indices are trading higher, close to the day's high.

At the pre-opening bell, the frontline index S&P BSE Sensex opened in green with a gain of 134.06 points or 0.23 per cent. 

On Wednesday, the benchmark indices recovered in the afternoon session but closed lower towards the end of the trading session.

BSE Smallcap index gained 0.73 per cent and BSE Midcap index climbed 0.46 per cent during Wednesday’s trading session while BSE Sensex struggled to stay in the green.  

The shares of Igarashi Motors India surged and got locked in a 20 per cent upper circuit, outperforming the rest of BSE Smallcap pack.

The scrip of Macpower CNC Machines soared like an eagle over the last six and twelve months, furnishing returns of 45.32 per cent & 61.58 per cent, respectively.   

Sensex slipped 0.28 per cent to end the choppy session at 59,028.9. 

In a volatile trading session, the BSE Basic Material index ended on a positive note at 5,570.57.  

  At the closing bell on September 7, the Sensex closed at 59,028.91, down by 0.28 per cent or 168.08 points.  

  National Peroxide Ltd and Sanghi Industries Ltd witnessed positive action in today’s session.
