The equity markets made an all-time high in October 2021 with Sensex touching the 62,000 level and Nifty gripping the 18,600 level. Since October 2021, the equity markets have been extremely volatile. The Russia-Ukraine war, Omicron fears, and inflation worries have weighed the most on the performance of equity markets. 

Sensex opened in red on Wednesday. At 11.08 am, it was seen trading 53 points down at the 52,636 level.

On Wednesday, the equity markets commenced the trading session, diving into the red. The benchmark indices i.e. Sensex and Nifty plunged 0.27 per cent & 0.28 per cent, respectively.

BSE Smallcap index registered losses of 0.40 per cent to close at 24,942.63.
