The benchmark indices took a breather and broke the three-day losing streak to end in green with Nifty settling around the 16,200 level. At close, Sensex was up by 503.27 points or 0.94 per cent at 54,252.53 while Nifty was up by 144.40 points or 0.90 per cent at 16,170.20. About 1,712 shares have advanced, 1,509 shares declined, and 126 shares are unchanged. 

Highest put option open interest contract was added at a strike price of 14500 for expiry on June 2.

BSE Smallcap index gained 0.78 per cent to close at 25,318.05. 

The penalized sectors made a comeback in today’s session with S&P BSE Metal gaining 3.4 per cent while Banking & Finance continued to show strength.

At the closing bell on May 26, the Sensex finished with a gain of 0.9 per cent or 503 points at 54,252.53, while the Nifty50 also gained 0.9 per cent or 144 points at 16,170.15. 

ITI, Dr Lal PathLabs and Indigo witnessed positive action in today’s session.

The company reported a consolidated profit after tax of Rs 168 crore for Q4FY22, up 8 per cent QoQ, and 51 per cent YoY, and Rs 582 crore for FY22, up 58 per cent over FY21.

Following a turbulent session on Thursday, the major equity indices concluded the day with big gains. Banks, metals, and financials rose but FMCG stocks fell. NSE's monthly F&O contracts expired today, causing trading to be turbulent. InterGlobe Aviation's stock (Indigo Airline) increased by 10.51 per cent. The stock of ITI rocketed by 18.55 per cent. The company's consolidated net profit rose by 78.33 per cent. Also, the shares of Torrent Pharmaceuticals' soared 10.16 per cent. 

The scrip rallied 9.31 per cent to Rs 2,050 per share on NSE. The shares of AIA Engineering Ltd have surged more than 14 per cent over the last five trading sessions. 

Indices continued their upmove in the last hour of the session while Nifty closed May expiry at 16,170, up by about 0.90 per cent.
