FM Arun Jaitley raises H1B visa issue with US Commerce Secretary

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has strongly raised the issue of H1B visa with the US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, reported a leading news agency on Friday.

In the first ever cabinet-level meet between two nations under the Trump regime, Jaitley stressed on the importance as well as the contribution of the highly skilled Indian IT professionals to the US economy.

Reportedly, the US Commerce Secretary said that the US government has begun the course of action to review the H1B visa issue. He also clarified the US government’s motive over the issue, that is, to promote and prefer highly skilled professionals.

The Indian IT industry is closely monitoring these developments as it has been impacted the most, post-Trump administration’s executive order over H1B visa.
