BHEL surges over 6 per cent on commissioning 800 MW supercritical thermal power plant in MP

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) today announced that it has successfully commissioned the second unit (800 MW) of 2x800 MW Gadarwara Super Thermal Power Project stage 1.  

This greenfield project, which is located at Gadarwara in Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh is being developed by NTPC Limited. The first unit of this project was commissioned by BHEL in 2019 and is currently under commercial operation. 

Reacting to this, the company’s stock today increased by 7.05 per cent and made an intraday high of Rs 42.50 per share at around 11.40 am. 

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd is India’s largest manufacturer of power generating equipment. It has an installed base of over 1,90,000 MW of power equipment all over the world. As of now, BHEL has contracted 58 sets of supercritical boilers and 53 sets of supercritical turbine generators from various customers, overseas as well as domestic markets. 

According to BSE data, the stock traded at a price-to-book ratio of 0.50. The stock has a 52-week high and a 52-week low of Rs 44.35 and Rs 19.20, respectively. 

At 2.50 pm, the stock of BHEL was trading at Rs 41.04, up by 3.40 per cent on BSE.
