Sensex, Nifty Witness Profit Booking

The Indian markets witnessed profit booking till closing trading session. The market witnessed heavy selling pressure in sectors like Bankex, Auto, Capital Goods and Metals. The Nifty index saw down trade by 40 points at 7790 and Sensex closed down by 145 points at 26126.

The advance-decline ratio on NSE was negative, as the day ended with 1282 shares in green and 2324 shares in the red zone.

Top Nifty Gainers: Sun Pharma gained 4.54% in today’s trade, followed by Lupin, HUL, HDFC and Asian Paints.

Top Nifty Losers: Tata Motors closed the day lower by 4.9%, followed by Wipro, DLF, Cairn India and BHEL.

Most of the sectoral indices closed on a negative note. Metals and Bankex stocks tanked in today’s trading session, down by 300 points and 240 points respectively. Auto, Capital Goods and Consumer Durables witnessed down trade of more than 100 points each. While mid-caps and small-saps also closed in the negative territory.

All the major Asian markets closed on the positive note in today’s session. The Nikkei market closed up by 173 points, while Hang Seng witnessed up move by 74 points. KOSPI and Shanghai also closed on the higher ends.

Buzzer: Sun Pharma was up by more than 4% on the bourses today and closed above the technical level of Rs 780. If the stock opens above this level, it may touch the Rs 820/840 mark in the next few sessions.

Nifty future closed at lower end at 7780 level. However it has a major support around 7700/7680 level.
