Government's initative for planning Model Village

The purpose of village development plan is to prepare a comprehensive, realistic, and practical blueprint for development of the village into a model village in a time-frame of about three years. 

The goverment of India launched the Saansad Aadarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) for the delovelopment of villages in India. The main aim behind Model Village plan is adopting villages and building them as exemplary ones. PM Modi is taking efforts towards all MPs to use their resources to develop at least one model village by 2019.

The initial steps has been taken to make model villages are to identify people's need and priorites,   define activities that can mobilize the complete community, use resources from running government schemes, repair and renovate infrastructure, straigthen the gram panchayat, promte trasparency and accountability. The Prime Minister expained the goverment is working to provide 24x7 power to all villages  and this will change lives of rural people and provide an opportunity to them for value addition of their crops.

Government has sketched the three years plan for the village development. The developent focus on all key areas like water problems, roads connectivity, drainage, electicity, public trasport, agriculture development, focus on Dairy, Poultry, Animal Husbandry & Fisheries, development of new & renewable energy sources , schools, new institutions needed in case of developing new schools, health care centres, post office, banks, panchayat etc. 

The future changes in villages will facilate many industries like construction indurty, manufacturing industry, auto mobile industry, energy, pharmacuticals, retail industry, steel industry etc. These industries will be in higher demand for long term. 

Before launching this plan, government has already invested for village development  Rs 5554 crore to Assam, bihar and Rajastan. As the pilot project the program was implimented in 1009 villages in Assam, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Rajastan and Tamil Nadu with an allocation of Rs 100 crore as each village should get Rs.10 lakh per year. 

The Member of Parliament Local Area Development scheme funds can be used for developing model villages under the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY), Rs. 2,950.5 crore under MPLAD scheme to various states in the country in the current fiscal till February 25 compared to Rs.3,937 crore in 2013-14. 

Awareness and community-level action are key to the success of any initiative, there are six villages in Maharashtra testimony to that and also to the fact the this plan can indeed make a gram an 'Adarsh Gram'.
