Benchmarks Indices end on a Lower Note
The Indian markets witnessed some stress and didn’t saw any sign of recovery till closing session. The benchmark indices closed on a lower note, the Sensex was down by 115 points and ended at 28071. The Nifty ended with negative territory by 26 points at 8516 level. Both the indices closed down by 0.35 percent.
The advance-decline ratio was in the positive in the closing session. On the NSE, 1616 shares closed in green, while 1278 shares ended the day in red.
Top 5 Nifty Gainers: Tech Mahindra closed the day as the top gainer on the NSE, up by 3.5%. It is followed by Tata Steel, Hindalco, Bank Of Baroda and Asian Paints were the others that closed the day on a positive note.
Top 5 Nifty Losers: Idea Cellular was the top loser, down by 3.9%, followed by Cairn India, Hero motocorp, ONGC and GAIL.
Most of the broader indices witnessed choppy trade. Consumer durables was the top loser for the day, down by 86 points. It was followed by the Capital Goods and IT indices which fell over by 50 points each. On the other hand Metals and Auto were saw good up moves around 200 points. Bankex, Mid-Caps and Small-Caps ended on positive note.
On the Asian front, The Hang Seng ended the day lower by 5 points. Whereas the Nikkei was closed down by 27 points. However the Shanghai Composite and KOSPI too ended on a positive note.
Buzzers: Tech Mahindra's stock witnessed a handsome up move by 3.5 percent. It closed above the technical level of 540. If it continues with the current momentum we may see the 570-580 levels soon.
The Nifty Future consolidated in the wide range around 8480-8550. These levels will be deciding factors for further trade.
