WOCKHARDT | BSE CODE: 532300 | Volume:  4485 | CMP: Rs 1643

Three years ago, Wockhardt had been facing severe pressure on the financial front. But the story has been an astounding one since then. The company has turned around strongly, and now has a strong balance sheet. Also, if we look at the margins, it has been on the higher side at around 32 per cent and is only second to Sun Pharmaceuticals considering the pharmaceutical industry.

At around 28 per cent, the ROCE is also much higher as compared to its other listed peers. The concerns over the balance sheet related with high debt have been addressed through a combination of improving operations (largely in the US), business restructuring and more conservative accounting. The operations in the US are performing well and expected to improve even further.

We feel that the company is all set to take a big leap into the next orbit. One can look at the scrip from a medium-term perspective.
