Indices Hold Gains, Hindalco up by 12 %
The Indian market has been witnessing good up-moves in last five consecutive trading sessions. On Monday indices like Metal, IT and Auto were outperformers of the day and up more than 150 points each. The Sensex ended 72 points higher at 26725 and Nifty moved up 21 points to 8178. Both the indices closed with a positive bias of 0.27 per cent each.
The advance-decline ratio ended in the negative. On the NSE, 1233 shares closed in green, while 1373 shares remained in the red.
Top 5 Nifty Gainers: Hindalco saw the highest gains of 12.02%. Tata Motors, Coal India, Tata Motors ( DVR) and Tata Power were among the others that closed the day higher.
Top 5 Nifty Losers: BHEL remained the strongest loser today, closing down by 5.7%, followed by Tata Steel, Zee Entertain, Maruti Suzuki and HDFC Bank.
The sectors all ended in the green. The Auto index gained 207 points, Metals and IT were up more than 150 points each. Capital Goods and Consumer Durables and Bankex were up around 50 points each. Mid-Caps and Small-Caps also gained by 39 points and 46 points respectively. However Oil & Gas, Healthcare and FMCG closed in the negative territory.
The Asian markets closed on a positive note. Nikkei was the top gainer, up by 233 points and Hang Seng gained 52 points. Taiwan Weighted and Shanghai Composite also ended in the green.
Buzzer: Hindalco. The stock surged 12 per cent on strong Q4 numbers, and ended above Rs 100 mark. If it continues to close above this technical level, it may see more up moves around 110-117 soon.
The Nifty index closed above the 8180 mark today, indicating a positive move ahead.
