Maruti successfully completes car safety tests
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) has successfully tested for pedestrian, full frontal and offset-frontal crash safety on five of its popular models – Baleno, Ciaz, Ignis, Brezza and S-Cross. MSIL is front-running its competitors in making vehicles compliant to new crash regulations. The company has started developing an in-house facility to operate pedestrian and frontal crash tests at Rohtak, near Delhi, costing around Rs 3800 crore.
“We have conducted 35-40 crash tests on each model and variant to check the compliance,” said CV Raman, Executive Director, R&D).
More than million people die due to fatal road accidents across the globe every year, out of which the number of fatalities in India is more than 0.2 million, according to World Health Organisation Report of 2015.
