Onida launches ACs compatible with Amazon Alexa
Mirc Electronics’ Onida brand has launched a new smart AC series – Onyx Smart and Genio. These ACs would have an additional unique feature of smart voice technology and capability to be operated through a mobile app.
Two variants of Onyx Smart series include Inverter 5 Star and 3 Star in each of 1 Ton and 1.5 Ton categories, with a price range between Rs. 44,990 to Rs. 63,990. Two variants of Genio in both 1 Ton and 1.5 Ton are 3-star ACs with a price range of Rs. 46,990 to Rs. 55,990. All Onida ACs come with 5 years' comprehensive warranty on both indoor and outdoor units.
During the quarter ending December 2018, Onida’s AC segment grew enormously by 108 per cent and as the company expected huge demand for voice-driven smart technology based ACs in the Indian market, it launched these two models keeping in mind the upcoming summer season.
These new air conditioners will have ethereal texture, stylish finish and boast of market-leading 4D cooling innovation, 100 per cent copper condenser, Bluefin powerful coating, eco-friendly R-32 refrigerant gas and smart digital displays. These ACs are designed as per the mandatory norms ISEER Ratings.
Onyx Smart is a Voice-Integrated Smart Air-conditioner, which works with Alexa, driven by in-house ViOT (Voice IOT) technology and helps to control the AC with only one’s voice through the Amazon's Alexa App. Whereas Genio, which means Genius in Spanish also has some exceptional features. Onida has also developed Smart Home app (available on IOS and Google Playstore) which will control the entire ecosystem of remote-operated devices through smartphones.
Also, Onida will be introducing new features like magnified cooling with multiplier inverter technology. It would deliver 120 per cent magnified cooling in just 30 seconds, cooling beyond the rated capacity of the AC.
It will be interesting to see how the demand for these ACs would turn out for the company. As summer season has begun, company's sales volumes are set to shoot up which will be reflected in the June quarter financials.
The stock of Mirc Electronics surged by 4.7 per cent on Wednesday to make intra-day high of 23.20 from its previous close of Rs. 22.15 per share.
