On The Advent Of Monsoon, Suddenly Everything Looks Better, Brighter

As I write this, dark clouds gather over the skyline of Mumbai, the commercial capital of India, indicating arrival of monsoon and on time. A very special reason to be happy. Rain does not only mean relief from scorching heat but also, brighter and better industrial activities and thus converting the same into better returns to your investments. Sensex, meanwhile, a day since RBI’s bi-monthly policy review statement was published, holding onto the 27,000 level comfortably. A good rain armed with a smooth passage of GST Bill may take the Sensex somewhere close to 30,000 level, if not beyond the crucial mark by this winter.

Meanwhile, our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has made a successful visit in the USA ensuring all the support that the country needs at this moment to be a part of the Nuclear Suppliers Group. Before that his visit to Switzerland too proved to be beneficial for India and lo and behold, China which has been out and out favouring Pakistan, the terror-infected country, suddenly changed its tone. Sometimes you need a strong man like Ronald Reagen, former US President to head a nation. No wonder, Modi is being compared with him these days. I have few reasons to appreciate his good ones—this is yet another time. In addition, during his two-year as Prime Minister of the country, not only FDI flow has crossed US Dollar 55.4 Billion mark, highest ever in this country but roads, ports, inland water projects, power projects have gained substantial momentum. The journey from here for my fellow countrymen can be smoother and better.

In this edition of your favourite investment magazine, we are talking about a variety of subjects. Starting from growth investing and helping you to pick up five growth stocks, we are talking about the days of RBI Governor, Raghuram Rajan, the man being followed by international media closely. Amid all the speculations on his renewed tenure, I have a strong belief that Modi will not do the mistake by bringing in a new face replacing Rajan. My colleagues in our research and analysis team have exhaustively covered the burning issue.

The fourth quarter results of India Inc. are also under our lens in this edition. We have researched balance-sheets of hundreds of listed companies divided into 10 sectors and come up with a detail report. This will certainly help you in riding the waves in the stock markets. I bet, results of the first quarter of all these companies are going to be just better from here.

Supported by two strong women politicians, Mamata Banerjee and J Jayalalitha, heads of West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, I can foresee GST Bill finally making inroads. Nothing can be a better piece of news for the markets at this time. I can see silver linings around the clouds above my city’s skyline.

Before I sign out for this time, let me inform you that now DSIJ magazine and its online content basket can be accessed even through our new app, available on both IOS and android platforms. So you are not going to miss us even on move.

Enjoy the monsoon and stay tuned.
