DoT launches 'Tarang Sanchar' portal to track mobile tower radiation

The Department of Telecom on Tuesday, 2 May 2017, has launched 'Tarang Sanchar', a portal which will enable people to track the amount of radiation emitted by the mobile towers, reported a national news agency.

People can track radiation within the particular locality, as also check the tower’s compliance with the specified norms.

Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha, while launching the web portal ‘Tarang Sanchar’, stated that he expected the site to help customers in clearing misconceptions as well as myths in regard to the mobile tower radiation.

“The portal will empower consumers with the click about the towers working in a particular area and whether they are compliant with the electromagnetic field (EMF) emission norms defined by the government,” added Sinha.
