Jaguar, BMW to collaborate for Next Gen electric technology

Jaguar Land Rover and BMW Group have joined forces to develop Next Generation electrifying technology. This will help develop advanced technology to be used for making of Autonomous, Connected, Electric and Shared Vehicles (ACES).

Jaguar Land Rover, a subsidiary of Indian automotive company Tata Motors, is engaged in design, development, manufacture and sale of vehicles pertaining to Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles. BMW India a subsidiary of BMW Group mainly producing automobiles and motorcycles.

This joint investment will benefit both Jaguar Land Rover and BMW to have a common research and development program for facilitating the manufacturing of electric vehicles. Both companies can take advantage of the efficiencies arising from joint procurement across the supply chain but they will manufacture the electric vehicles individually in their own manufacturing facilities. The industry will have to shift to electric mobility platforms owing to the government’s proposed ban on IC powered engines by 2025.

On Tuesday, the shares of Tata Motors closed at Rs. 173.40 per share, Rs. 1.15 or 0.66 per cent lower than the previous close. The 52-week high for the share is Rs. 315 and the 52-week low is Rs. 141.90.
