Market Wrap: Benchmark indices closes on a lower note with Nifty IT among the top losers!

On July 20, foreign institutional investors (FII) bought shares worth Rs 3,370.90 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) sold shares worth Rs 193.02 crore.

Market Update at 4:10 PM: Sensex and Nifty close on a lower note by 1.31 per cent and 1.17 per cent respectively.

Nifty Midcap closes lower by 0.36 per cent whereas Nifty Smallcap closes higher by 0.72 per cent.

India VIX has plunged by 2.63 per cent.

Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Media and Nifty Auto were among the top gainers while Nifty IT, Nifty FMCG and Nifty Energy were among the top losers.

L&T, ONGC and NTPC were among the top gainers while Infosys, Tech Mahindra and Hindustan Unilever were among the top losers from the Nifty 50.

About 778 stocks were advancing as against to 1136 stocks that were declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

Nifty Midcap trades lower by 0.33 per cent while Nifty Smallcap trades higher by 0.67 per cent.

L&T, Tata Motors and SBI are among the top gainers while Infosys, Tech Mahindra and HCL Tech are among the top losers from the Nifty 50.

About 830 stocks are advancing as against to 1086 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

 

Market Update at 12:05 PM: Sensex and Nifty have plunged by 1.18 per cent and 1.03 per cent respectively.

Nifty Midcap has plunged by 0.27 per cent while Nifty Smallcap has surged by 0.48 per cent.

India VIX has surged by 0.85 per cent.

Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Media and Nifty Metal are among the top gainers while Nifty IT, Nifty Energy and Nifty FMCG are among the top losers.

L&T, JSW Steel and SBI are among the top gainers while Infosys, Tech Mahindra and HCL Tech are among the top losers from the Nifty 50.

About 866 stocks are advancing as against to 1038 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

 

Market Update at 9:30 AM: Sensex opens lower by 0.59 per cent while Nifty opens lower by 0.68 per cent.

Nifty Midcap trades lower by 0.75 per cent while Nifty Smallcap trades higher by 0.3 per cent.

India VIX has plunged by 0.85 per cent.

Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Bank and Nifty Financial Services are among the top gainers while Nifty IT, Nifty Metal and Nifty Realty are among the top losers.

L&T, Kotak Bank and SBI are among the top gainers while Infosys, Tech Mahindra and HCL Tech are among the top losers from the Nifty 50.

About 945 stocks are advancing as against to 857 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a slight positive sentiment in the broader market.

 

Pre-Market Update on 8:00 AM: On Thursday, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq fell due to disappointing results from Tesla and Netflix. However, the Dow advanced for a ninth day driven by gains in Johnson & Johnson. Tesla's shares tumbled 9.74 per cent, while Netflix slumped 8.41 percent. The Dow rose 0.47 per cent, while the S&P 500 lost 0.68 per cent, and the Nasdaq dropped by 2.05 per cent.

Brent oil prices showed little change on Friday, set to close the week flat after three weeks of gains. The market considers lower U.S. crude inventories and tapering interest rate hikes, but weak Chinese economic data may limit demand. Brent futures rose slightly, up 3 cents to USD 79.67 a barrel.

The GIFT Nifty suggests a neutral opening for the benchmark indices, having gained 14 points on Friday, with the futures quoting at 19,872.50.

On July 20, foreign institutional investors (FII) bought shares worth Rs 3,370.90 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) sold shares worth Rs 193.02 crore.

Stocks that are banned for trading in the F&O segment on July 21, 2023, are Balrampur Chini Mills, Delta Corp, Indiabulls Housing Finance, L&T Finance Holdings, RBL Bank, Manappuram and PNB.
