MF update: February 2021 AUM at Rs 31.64 lakh crore
The asset under management (AUM) of the domestic mutual fund industry has increased by 3.74 per cent on a monthly basis to Rs 31.64 lakh crore for the month of February 2021. The increase in AUM can well be attributed to a rise in the asset under management of the entire major mutual fund categories (equity, debt & hybrid). On a month-on-month basis, the assets of equity-oriented schemes have surged by a huge 8.07 per cent. In the month of February 2021, the Nifty 500 gained almost 8 per cent and thus, its better mark-to-market gain is the reason for such an increase in the AUM.
February 2021 became the eighth month when the equity-dedicated funds witnessed a net outflow. These outflows were to the tune of Rs 4,534 crore in February 2021 as against an outflow of Rs 9,253 crore in the preceding month. All the sub-categories of equity-oriented funds saw a net outflow in the month of February 2021 except for focussed and large & mid-cap funds, which saw an inflow of Rs 156 crore each. At the end of February 2021, the total AUM of equity-oriented funds was at Rs 9.63 lakh crore compared to Rs 8.91 lakh crore at the end of January 2021.
