Penny Stock Under Rs 65 with Rs 9050 Crore Order Book: Optical Cable Manufacturer & C-DOT Achieve India’s First Quantum-Secured Network Breakthrough with Multi-Core Fibre
The stock is up by 20 per cent from its 52-week low of Rs 53.90 per share.
Sterlite Technologies Limited (STL) and C-DOT have jointly achieved a significant milestone in India's technological advancement by successfully demonstrating the nation's first quantum-secured network using a 4-core Multi-Core Fibre (MCF) over a distance of 100 kilometres. This breakthrough, announced on May 6th, 2025, signifies a crucial step towards building future-ready and secure communication networks for India. The collaboration between STL, a leading optical and digital solutions company, and C-DOT, India’s premier telecom R&D center under the Department of Telecommunications, highlights the nation's commitment to innovation in critical communication infrastructure.
STL has been instrumental in this achievement by designing, developing, and deploying India's first Multi-Core Fibre (MCF) cable as an end-to-end solution, encompassing cabling, connectivity, installation, and deployment for both aerial and underground networks. Their field-deployable MCF cabling technology was utilised in the Department of Telecommunications (DoT)-sponsored Advanced Optical Communications (AOC) Test Bed at IIT-Madras, meeting TEC standards. Notably, STL is the first company globally to champion the deployment of MCF cables in both underground and aerial infrastructures and is actively involved in the global standardisation of fibre and cable technologies.
The integration of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) with MCF technology offers a powerful solution to the challenges of quantum communication. MCF allows for data transmission across multiple cores within a single fibre, conserving physical space and reducing infrastructure costs. Crucially, it enables the physical separation of quantum and classical signals into distinct cores, allowing for the simultaneous transmission of QKD and high-capacity data traffic without compromising the integrity of the quantum signal. In this demonstration, quantum signals were transmitted through one core while the other three carried high-speed user data, showcasing the system's resilience and its potential to support India's 5G/6G rollout and increasing data demands without compromising network security. This achievement by STL and C-DOT paves the way for a secure, scalable, and resilient quantum communication network for India, fostering a digitally sovereign future.
