BSE Small-cap index closed in the red territory at 29,233.81, down by 1.01 per cent.

At 12.45 pm, on Monday, the core equity indices i.e Sensex and Nifty 50 were trading marginally higher than their opening levels, with Sensex gaining the 57,000- mark and Nifty maintaining the levels at 17,000. The FIIs have again started selling off in the domestic markets as the geopolitical tensions still persist around the world.

On Wednesday, the bulls took the charge in the domestic equity markets as benchmark indices ended higher for the second consecutive day with Nifty closing above 16,300. 

On Thursday, benchmark indices ended in red with Nifty settling below 17,200 in the highly volatile session after Federal Reserve in its policy outcome indicated interest rates hike soon.
