Rs 6,616 Crore Order Book: Navratna PSU bags Rs 259 Crore Orders from Bihar and Himachal Pradesh Education Departments

RailTel Corporation of India Ltd, a Navratna PSU and prominent telecom infrastructure provider, has drawn investor attention after securing two major work orders totaling Rs 259 crore. The development is expected to keep the railway stock in focus on Monday, especially in the context of increasing interest in government-linked telecom and IT services.

RailTel received a significant order worth Rs 243.11 crore from the Bihar Education Project Council. The project involves supplying student kits to government schools from Classes 1 to 12, with a completion deadline of August 14, 2025. This marks a key step in the company’s project-based service expansion, particularly in the education sector. In addition, RailTel also bagged another order of Rs 15.96 crore from the Department of Education, Samagra Shiksha, for the supply of UPS and printers to 5,507 government primary schools across Himachal Pradesh. This project is scheduled for completion by October 6, 2025.
Despite these positive developments, RailTel’s share price closed at Rs 444.15 on Friday, down 3.69 per cent on NSE. Over the past three months, the stock has surged by 49.17 per cent, and on a year-to-date basis, it has gained 10.06 per cent.
Financially, RailTel reported robust growth in its March 2025 Quarterly Results. Revenue from operations rose 57.11 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1,308.28 crore, while profit after tax grew 46.33 per cent to Rs 113.45 crore. For the full year FY25, revenue climbed 35.43 per cent to Rs 3,477.50 crore, and net profit rose 21.45 per cent to Rs 299.01 crore, reflecting consistent growth and efficient order execution.
As per the company’s Q4FY25 earnings call, RailTel's total order book now stands at Rs 6,616 crore. With clients such as the Ministry of Railways, Google, and SBI, the company’s telecom services—comprising dark fiber, bandwidth, and data center solutions—continue to grow. Between FY22 and FY24, this segment alone posted a 21 per cent increase in revenue.
RailTel’s long-term strategy includes exploring international markets and enhancing its data center capabilities. With a balanced portfolio across project and telecom services, the company is well-positioned in India’s expanding digital infrastructure ecosystem.
