India's Largest Power Transmission PSU Maharatna Company Board Approves 3 Projects Worth Rs 964 Crore - Details Inside

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Government of India Enterprise, announced today that its 'Committee of Directors on Investment on Projects' approved investments for three significant projects during their meeting held on May 1, 2025. The first project, titled "Transmission system strengthening to facilitate evacuation of power from Bhadla/Bikaner complex," has been allocated an estimated cost of Rs 212.81 Crore. This project is scheduled to be commissioned within 18 months from the date of project allocation, targeting completion by June 9, 2026.

The second project receiving investment approval is "Eastern Region Expansion Scheme-43 (ERES-43)," with an estimated cost of Rs 342.69 Crore. This scheme is also slated for commissioning within an 18-month timeframe, with best efforts being made to achieve completion within 15 months from the allocation date of March 1, 2026.

The third project approved is "Eastern Region Expansion Scheme-44 (ERES-44)," which has been allocated an estimated cost of Rs 408.94 Crore. Similar to the other projects, ERES-44 has a scheduled commissioning period of 18 months, with efforts to complete it within 15 months from the allocation date of May 24, 2026.

In the Quarterly Results of December 2024, the company reported a revenue of Rs 11,233.03 crore, reflecting a YoY decline of 2.74 per cent compared to Rs 11,549.79 crore in December 2023. The operating profit stood at Rs 9,532.89 crore, marking a 6.31 per cent decrease from Rs 10,174.98 crore in the same quarter last year. The profit after tax (PAT) declined by 4.14 per cent to Rs 3,861.63 crore from Rs 4,028.25 crore in December 2023.

In FY24, the company posted a revenue of Rs 45,843.10 crore, registering a 0.53 per cent growth compared to Rs 45,603.11 crore in FY23. The net profit for the year stood at Rs 15,573.16 crore, up 0.99 per cent from Rs 15,419.74 crore in the previous financial year.

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited operates as a transmission utility, engaged in the planning, implementation, operation, and maintenance of inter-state transmission systems. The company plays a crucial role in the power sector by facilitating the transfer of electricity across different states in India through its vast network of transmission lines and substations. POWERGRID's business also includes consultancy services in the power transmission sector, catering to both domestic and international clients.
