Market wrap: Benchmark indices end on a lower note while broader indices end on a positive note!

On June 16, foreign institutional investors (FII) bought shares worth Rs 794.78 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) purchased shares worth Rs 681.33 crore.

Market Update at 3:30 PM: Sensex ends lower by 0.34 per cent and Nifty end lower by 0.38 per cent.

Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap end higher by 0.06 per cent and 0.31 per cent respectively.

India VIX has surged by 3.51 per cent.

Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Pharma and Nifty IT were among the top gainers while Nifty Media, Nifty Realty and Nifty Energy were among the top losers.

Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance and HDFC Life were among the top gainers while Kotak Bank, Hero Motocorp and Adani Enterprises were among the top losers.

About 1243 stocks were advancing as against to 680 stocks that were declining. Thus, indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap trades marginally higher by 0.06 per cent and 0.13 per cent respectively.

India VIX has surged by 5.35 per cent.

Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Pharma and Nifty IT are among the top gainers while Nifty Media, Nifty Realty and Nifty Bank are among the top losers.

Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance and HDFC Life are among the top gainers while Kotak Bank, Adani Ports and Adani Enterprises are among the top losers.

About 869 stocks are advancing as against to 1103 stocks that were declining. Thus, indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

About 1076 stocks are advancing as against to 874 stocks that were declining. Thus, indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

About 1196 stocks are advancing as against to 764 stocks that were declining. Thus, indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

Nifty Midcap and Smallcap open higher by 0.55 per cent each.

India VIX has surged by 3.41 per cent.

Nifty Pharma, Nifty Metal and Nifty Realty are among the top gainers while Nifty Media, Nifty FMCG are among the top losers.

Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Bajaj Finserv and L&T are among the top gainers while Hero Motocorp, HDFC Life and Hindustan Unilever are among the top losers.

About 1511 stocks are advancing as against to 372 stocks that were declining. Thus, indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

 

Pre-Market Update at 8:05 AM: On Friday, The S&P 500 closed at 4,409.59, down 0.37 per cent, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ended at 34,299.12 with a decrease of 0.32 per cent, and the Nasdaq Composite finished the session at 13,689.57, down 0.68 per cent.

Despite concerns over the global economy and potential interest rate hikes, oil prices increased on Friday, supported by increased Chinese demand and supply cuts by OPEC+. Brent crude settled at $76.61 per barrel, marking a weekly gain of 94 cents. In futures trading, the Dollar index rose by 0.18 per cent to reach 102.30, while the value of one dollar remained close to Rs 81.92

Continuing the positive trend from the previous week, the market is expected to open slightly higher on June 19. The SGX Nifty, which opened the session at 18,927 points, indicates a positive start for the benchmark indices with a gain of 6 points. In early trade today, SGX futures reached a high of 18,975.

Stocks that are banned for trading in the F&O segment on June 16 are Delta Corp, Indiabulls Housing Finance, IEX, India Cements, L&T Finance Holdings, Manappuram, Tata Chemicals and Zee Entertainment.
