Pioneered Bearing Company Approves Rs 200 Crore Investment to Expand Manufacturing and R&D for Next-Gen EVs and Hybrid Platform.

NRB Bearings Limited, a leading Indian manufacturer of needle roller bearings and mobility solutions, has announced a significant capacity expansion plan. The company's Board of Directors has approved an investment of approximately 200 crore to support its growing business from major European Tier 1 customers. This expansion is in response to lifetime nominated business worth Rs 600 crore.
The expansion aims to support key European Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) like BMW, Stellantis, and Renault across their next-generation vehicle platforms. These platforms include electric vehicles (EVs), hybrid vehicles, and internal combustion engine (ICE) models. NRB Bearings has secured nominations from Magna and other major European customers for advanced hybrid, electric, and ICE programs for these OEMs. The company's bearing solutions have been co-developed with the OEMs to meet the advanced technical requirements of these future-ready platforms.

The 200 crore investment will be allocated over the next two years to expand and upgrade NRB Bearings' manufacturing capabilities and R&D. The investment will enhance capacities for various types of bearings, including Cylindrical Roller Bearings, Needle Roller Bearings, Thrust and Combination Bearings, and Taper Roller Bearings. It will also fund upgrades in heat treatment capabilities, infrastructure development, and downstream integration to improve efficiency and scalability.
In addition to this, NRB Bearings has also secured additional lifetime business worth 12 crore for the next-generation E-Drive platforms of premium all-electric vehicles from BMW, Stellantis, Renault, and Mercedes-Benz. This is incremental to the company's existing nominated business of Rs 400 crore for these platforms, with supply commitments extending through 2030.
