Our take
If we purely look from a cost to benefit prespective, then it makes complete sense to invest in normal health insurance policy rather than corona rakshak or corona kavach policy. This is because corona is not the only disease which can lead you towards hospitalisation. Therefore, if you invest in a corona rakshak or kavach policy, then you would only be covered against hospitalisation related to corona. However, if you by any chance require hospitalisation apart from corona, then you won't be getting any claim. Further, the difference between the premiums of normal health insurance and corona rakshak or kavach is quite negligible. Moreover, your normal health insurance cover would also be covering COVID-19. Hence, paying additional premium just to cover expenses related to corona makes no sense. Furthermore, there are general insurers who do not have any seperate corona rakshak or kavach policy, but does cover the same in their normal health insurance policy itself. These policies proves to be around 10 per cent cheaper than taking corona rakshak or kavach plus normal health insurance plan.
