At 12:45 IST, BSE Sensex was trading negative, down around 392.82 points or 0.65 per cent at a level of 59,960.45 and Nifty-50 also was trading negative, down around 119.90 points or 0.67 per cent at 17,872.25.
Top BSE Sensex gainers were NTPC Ltd, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd and Reliance Industries Ltd whereas the top BSE Sensex losers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd, Bajaj Finance Ltd and Bajaj FinServ Ltd.
After submitting a revised bid on Thursday with an additional cash component of Rs 3,600 crore for the two Srei group of companies under the insolvency and bankruptcy process, the Varde Partners-Arena consortium emerged as the highest bidder. In total, the Varde-Arena consortium has bid the most, totalling more than Rs 14,000 crore, including bonds, OCDs, equity and upfront cash.
