Stocks below Rs 100: Only buyers seen in these scrips on August 22

At 10.45 am on Monday, the headline equity indices, i.e. Sensex and Nifty 50 fell sharply post US market’s reaction to the newly-arisen fear of aggressive rate hike by Federal Reserve.

Fed Chairman Jerome Powell will get a chance to reset the financial markets’ condition at the bank’s annual meet on August 26, 2022 (Friday).    

Owing to this, the Asia Pacific markets were also giving a mixed reaction as on the weaker side, Japan's Nikkei traded lower by 0.55 per cent.    

Meanwhile, People’s Bank of China has again cut its lending rate by 5 basis points to 3.65 per cent from 3.70 per cent while its five-year loan prime rate now stands at 4.5 per cent. As a result, China’s Shanghai Composite is trading higher by 0.57 per cent on Monday.  

The US equity indices such as Dow Jones and S&P 500 plunged sharply and ended lower by 0.86 per cent & 1.29 per cent, respectively.  

Sensex is trading at 59.0005.38 down by 630.05 points or 1.06 per cent whereas Nifty 50 is at 17,567.35 down by 191.10 points or 1.10 per cent. Nifty Bank is also down by 1.71 per cent at the 38,319.10 level.  

The FIIs are investing in the domestic markets and have bought equity worth Rs 1,110.90 crore on Friday (August 19) while the DIIs sold equity net worth of Rs 1,633.21 crore.     

The Top Gainers in Nifty 50 pack are ITC, Britannia Industries, Hindustan Unilever, Tata Consumer Products, and Adani Ports and SEZ. Meanwhile, the Top Losers pulling down the index are Apollo Hospitals, Divi’s Labs, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Hindalco Industries, and Bajaj Finserv.  

BSE Smallcap index is trading at 27,934.57, down by 0.85  per cent. The top gainers in the pack were Kriti Industries (16.14 per cent), DB Corp (14 per cent), Forbes & Company, CCL Products, and Reliance Power. 

On the sectoral front, BSE Utilities, BSE FMCG, and BSE Power were the only indices trading on the greener side.
