With 2,152 shares declining on the BSE and 1,488 shares rising, the advance-decline ratio strongly remained in favour of declines.

Indices saw a magnificent short-covering rally on Friday despite a slight sell-off witnessed in the last hour. Nifty climbed 1.01 per cent to close at 17,200 while Sensex soared 685 points.

Indices closed at the day’s low after a sharp sell-off in the last one hour dragged the market. Nifty plunged 1.21 per cent to close below 16,900 while Sensex tanked 638 points. Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap slipped 1.25 per cent & 0.66 per cent, respectively.  

While markets opened flat, as of noon, BSE Sensex was up by 0.28 per cent.

On Thursday morning the markets opened lower only to plunge deep as the day advanced. The bear tightens its grip over the global markets as Russia advances its efforts to invade East Ukraine despite all the warnings from the USA and the United Nations. This has led to a surge in crude oil prices hitting a 7-year high and has almost crossed the USD 100 per barrel mark.
