Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap lost ground as they plummeted about 3.76 per cent and 4.72 per cent respectively.

It was a disappointing end to the week as Nifty slipped 1.77 per cent to end at 17,800 levels. It has broken the key support level of 18,000 and the sentiment has turned strongly bearish.
