Openreach selects STL as its strategic partner; stock trades flat

Sterlite Technologies Limited (STL), an industry integrator of digital networks announced its strategic collaboration with Openreach Ltd to help them build its new UK full-fibre network. Openreach Ltd has the largest digital network business in the UK.

Under this partnership, STL will be responsible for delivering millions of kilometres of optic fibre cable to support the build over the next three years apart from providing Openreach with its expertise and innovation. This collaboration with Openreach will further strengthen its 14-year-old technology and supply relationship while further reinforcing STL’s commitment to the UK market.

Openreach plans to take advantage of STL’s cutting-edge Opticonn solution, which is a specialised set of fibre, cable and interconnects offerings designed to drive significant performance improvements thereby, improving its installation performance by 30 per cent. It will also have access to STL’s Celesta, a high-density optical fibre cable with a capacity of up to 6,912 optical fibres, which is 26 per cent slimmer compared to traditional loose tube cables thus, allowing 2,000 metres of cable to be installed within an hour.

At 12.41 pm on Thursday, the share price of STL was trading 0.12 per cent higher at Rs 217.05.
