The India indices closed on the upper side today after yesterday's fall. BSE Sensex closed at 59,744.65 levels increasing by 142 points. Top gainers of the BSE Sensex index include Asian Paints, TCS, Nestle India, ICICI Bank, Reliance, and UltraTech Cement. The stocks that were seen in red today on the index were, Hinduja Global Solutions, Dishman Carbogen Amcis, GMR Infrastructure, and Shree Renuka Sugars.

The domestic equity markets started 2022 on a positive note with most of the indices moving in upward direction this week. Despite the surge in covid cases in India and globally, the markets moved higher as the severity of Omicron variant seems to low. Sensex and Nifty inched up by 2.6 per cent each during the week.

On Thursday the market tumble by 621 points at 59,601.84 after having four consecutive winning streaks. The Nifty 50 index closed down at 17,745.90, slipping by 1 per cent i.e. 179 points. Top gainers of the index include UPL, Induslnd Bank, Bajaj Auto, Bharti Airtel and Maruti. Whereas, JSW Steel, UltraTech Cement, Shree Cement, Tech Mahindra and Adani Ports are among the top losers.
