PSU Bank tops gainers list during Wednesdays session; IOB and Central Bank zooms over 10 per cent each

Amidst all these, there is one sector that has become the talk of the town and it's none other than the ever-volatile index i.e., Nifty PSU Bank.

The Indian benchmark indices extended their northward journey on Wednesday with Nifty trading above the 17,550 mark while Sensex reclaiming the 58,800 mark.  

The broader markets have also continued their outperformance against the frontline gauge with Nifty Midcap 100 & Smallcap 100 advancing 0.50 per cent and 1.41 per cent, respectively.   

Considering the strong outperformance by Nifty Midcap 100 and Smallcap 100, the advance-decline ratio is titled strongly in favour of advance.   

Amidst all these, there is one sector that has become the talk of the town and it's none other than the ever-volatile index i.e., Nifty PSU Bank. The market participants are seen jumping with joy with gains of Nifty PSU Bank as the index jumped 1.48 per cent. Moreover, all the stocks of this index were seen trading in the green.   

The top gainers among Nifty PSU Bank are Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) and Central Bank as they gained over 10 per cent each. Bank of Maharashtra has also logged gains of over 5 per cent.  

Besides, it’s been just one & half-hour into Wednesday’s session and the stock of Central Bank has recovered its highest single-day volume since October 26. Not only this, but IOB also has recorded its highest single-day volume since October 27.
