Sensex, Nifty in green; Adani Green locks in at upper circuit, Jubilant FoodWorks jumps 6 per cent, Bharat Forge tumbles

Ahead of Muhurat Trading session, the domestic benchmark indices closed in the green on Friday. Sensex gained by 85.81 points or 0.20 per cent to settle at 43,443 levels while Nifty closed up by 29.15 points or 0.23 per cent at 12,719.95 levels.

Today’s volatile trading session ended with higher gains seen in pharma, financial & realty stocks.

In the global markets, Asian indices such as Shanghai index, Hang Seng and Nikkei declined by 0.86 per cent, 0.05 per cent, and 0.53 per cent, respectively whereas, KOSPI closed in green, up by 0.74 per cent. In the European markets, FTSE 100 was trading down by 0.12 per cent, DAX was up by 0.41 per cent while CAC 40 inched up higher by 0.46 per cent.

Sensex gainers included Bajaj Finserv that went up by 3.32 per cent, Tata Steel jumped 2.82 per cent, ICICI Bank rose by 1.91 per cent, Axis Bank gained by 1.81 per cent, Bajaj Finance increased by 1.77 per cent, SBI gained by 1.21 per cent, etc.

Sensex losers were Larsen & Toubro that went down by 2.04 per cent, HDFC plunged 1.04 per cent, HDFC Bank declined by 0.94 per cent, Bharti Airtel fell by 0.79 per cent, Tech Mahindra decreased by 0.53 per cent, TCS weakened by 0.50 per cent, etc.

Amongst sectoral indices on BSE, the Metal index was the biggest gainer, up by 1.94 per cent while the Capital Goods index was the biggest loser, down by 0.33 per cent. BSE Small-Cap index closed up by 1.12 per cent and BSE Mid-Cap index rose by 0.86 per cent.
