Sensex, Nifty close in green; Subex touches fresh 52-week high, Bajaj Finserv gains 3.87 per cent

On Wednesday, the domestic benchmark indices closed in green. The markets remained volatile during today’s trading session as Sensex closed up by 169.23 points or 0.42 per cent to settle at 40,794.74 levels while Nifty closed up by just 36.55 points or 0.31 per cent to close at 11,971.05 levels.

Subex Limited hit an upper circuit of 10 per cent and hit a new 52-week high.

On the global front, FTSE fell by 0.036 per cent, CAC 40 declined by 0.021 per cent while DAX decreased by 0.048 per cent. 

Asian indices such as Shanghai index and KOSPI fell by 0.56 per cent and 0.94 per cent, respectively whereas Hang Seng and Nikkei went up by 0.071 per cent and 0.11 per cent, respectively.

The top gainers in Sensex included Bajaj Finserv that went up by 3.87 per cent, Bajaj Finance gained by 3 per cent, ICICI Bank strengthened by 2.69 per cent, IndusInd Bank rose by 2.34 per cent and State Bank of India inched up by 2.25 per cent. 

The top losers in Sensex consisted of NTPC that went down by 4.35 per cent, ONGC slipped by 2.97 per cent, Tech Mahindra slid by 2.18 per cent, Power Grid plunged 2.15 per cent and Infosys weakened by 1.89 per cent. 

Amongst sectoral indices on BSE, the Finance index and Bankex index were the biggest gainers, up by 1.68 per cent and 1.62 per cent, respectively.

Meanwhile, indices such as Capital goods, Realty and Basic materials gained by 0.99 per cent, 1.04 per cent, and 0.66 per cent, respectively whereas indices such as Utilities, Power, IT, and Oil & Gas were the top losers, down by 1.71 per cent, 1.56 per cent, 1.53 per cent and 1.09 per cent, respectively.

In the broader markets, BSE Small-Cap index declined by 0.19 per cent while BSE Mid-Cap index rose by 0.50 per cent.
