Spotlight on India INX; achieves its highest ever trading volume per day

India INX reported that it has achieved its highest ever trading volume per day of over Rs 50,000 crore as of October 21, 2020.

India International Exchange (IFSC) Limited (India INX) is India’s first international exchange. Located in International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) at Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), it witnessed an all-time high turnover of over USD 6.81 billion on a daily trading turnover basis.

Since January 2017 i.e. from the time it has commenced its trading activities, it’s been observed that the trading volume on BSE’s India INX has continued to grow exponentially thus, aiding India INX to maintain a leadership position IFSC GIFT City thereby, further accounting for an overall market share of about 80 per cent for September 2020.

Operating on an advanced technology platform of EUREX T7, it has a turn-around time of 4 micro seconds. The exchange offers a first of its kind single segment approach for all asset classes - equities, currencies, commodities, fixed income securities providing significant cost advantages to participants. 

Since the exchange is located in IFSC, GIFT City, it provides a competitive advantage in terms of tax structure and supportive regulatory framework including benefits in security transaction tax, commodity transaction tax, dividend distribution tax as well as long-term capital gain tax waivers and no income tax.
