Midcap buzzers: GMR Infra & Apollo Hospital become top gainers

BSE Mid-cap index gained 0.76 per cent after the markets gained in Tuesday’s session, taking cues from the global markets. Apollo Hospital, Ramco Cements, GMR Infra, and M&M Financial were the top index contributors in today’s trading session.

GMR infra was the top gainer, gaining nearly eight per cent, followed by Apollo hospital and KIOCL, which went up by nearly six per cent and five per cent, respectively.

The biggest draggers in today’s session, when it comes to BSE Mid-cap index, were Edelweiss, which was down by nearly five per cent, BEL that fell by nearly 3 per cent, followed by Ajanta Pharma, which slipped by 2.55 per cent. M&M financials, Muthoot Finance and Jindal Steel were the stocks with the highest turnover in today’s session. Around 61 mid-cap index constituents advanced while 38 declined with two remaining unchanged in today’s session.

The mid-caps were seen underperforming Sensex as the latter inched up by 1.47 per cent or 558 points and managed to close comfortably above the crucial 38,000 levels at 38,492.
