L&T Construction begins work on hydro-electric project in Assam

Larsen & Toubro Construction announced on Friday that its heavy civil infrastructure arm has started mobilising of resources for the execution of a hydro-electric project for Assam Power Generation Corporation Limited. The project in Assam involves the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning of project infrastructure, civil as well as hydromechanical works.

The scope of the project entails the construction of all components of 120MW Lower Kopili Hydro-Electric Project viz roads, 65-metre high concrete gravity dam, power intakes, surface powerhouse, and a 3.6 km long headrace tunnel.

In an exchange filing, L&T Construction informed that the order has been classified in the ‘significant’ category since it has a total consideration of around Rs 1,000 crore to Rs 2,500 crore.

Larsen & Toubro manufactures engineering equipment, undertakes large scale engineering projects, and acts as the Indian representative for a number of overseas manufacturers of heavy machinery.

On Friday, the stock of Larsen & Toubro closed at Rs 982.15 per share, lower by 0.85 per cent or Rs 8.40 per share on BSE, against a 1.13 per cent decrease in the benchmark index. The 52-week high is recorded at Rs 1,554.05 and the 52-week low is Rs 661.05 on BSE.
