BHEL ventures into lake purification under Smart City programme
BHEL has forayed into lake purification under the Smart City programme with an order from Raipur Smart City Limited (RSCL). This initiative is a part of its diversification strategy through continuous focus on water business.
The company has bagged the prestigious order for purification of Telibandha Lake from RSCL, which includes operation and maintenance for five years thereafter. The order will be implemented by BHEL's Project Engineering & Systems Division (PESD), Hyderabad.
BHEL and NEERI (National Environmental Engineering Research Institute) have entered into an MoU for working jointly on projects related to water and waste water treatment in the municipal segment. The synergy of the two organisations is being utilised to address this business segment, besides exploring various other avenues of working jointly.
The company’s Q3FY18 order inflow stood at Rs 12,000 crore and order backlog stood at Rs 1,02,200 crore. Its order execution backlog improved to Rs 81,000 crore (up 48 per cent YoY) led by clearance of Yadadri project in October.
