India's airline company has placed an order for 500 airplanes, marking its biggest order in the history of Airbus!

The company has a pending delivery order for 1000 planes.

IndiGo Airlines operating under the name of InterGlobe Aviation Ltd has achieved a remarkable milestone with the placement of a firm order for 500 Airbus A320 Family aircraft. This significant development ensures a consistent and reliable flow of deliveries for IndiGo between the years 2030 and 2035.

Notably, this order for 500 aircraft is not only IndiGo largest order but also the largest-ever single aircraft purchase by any airline with Airbus. The purchase agreement was signed on June 19 2023 at the Paris Air Show 2023.

Today IndiGo operates over 300 aircraft and has previously ordered 480 aircraft which are yet to be delivered between today and the end of this decade. IndiGo order book has almost 1000 aircraft yet to be delivered well into the next decade. With this new order since its inception in 2006, IndiGo has ordered a massive total of 1330 aircraft with Airbus.

IndiGo is amongst the fastest growing airlines in the world and this order will allow it to continue this growth for many years to come. In May 2023 IndiGo achieved a historic milestone by securing a 61.4 per cent market share in the domestic civil aviation sector.  This is the airline's highest market share in over 16 years and the second time it has exceeded the 60 per cent milestone. This year IndiGo expects to welcome 100 million customers on board.
