Mid-cap and small-cap funds that outperformed in last one month
Nifty Mid-Cap and Small-Cap indices recorded an all-time high at the end of July 2021. However, after that, they saw a continuous fall. Nifty Mid-Cap 150 went down by 3.96 per cent between August 1 and August 23. Nifty Small-Cap 250 index plunged 8.4 per cent during the same period.
Analysis of broader market dedicated funds shows that the majority of them have outperformed their benchmark. In the case of small-cap funds, out of 28 funds, 23 funds have outperformed their benchmark while in the case of mid-cap dedicated funds, 17 out of 30 funds have outperformed their benchmark.
Even when we compare the fund’s performance with the category average, more than 50 per cent of the funds outperformed, which shows that there were a few funds that saw a steep fall that pulled down the average. For example, Quant Small Cap Fund fell by almost 12 per cent i.e. almost double the category average.
