Nifty closes above 15,800; ONGC, Coal India, Larsen and Toubro emerge as top gainers

All the sectors closed firmly in the green.

Market update at 3.30 PM: Indices closed firmly in green and Nifty rose about 0.85 per cent. Sensex climbed 433 points while Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap gained 1 per cent & 2.04 per cent, respectively.  

All the sectors closed firmly in the green. ONGC, Coal India, L&T were the Top Losers.   

Nifty closed on a positive note and all eyes would turn to the US markets as GDP data is set to release on Wednesday. Thus, volatility is expected to persist. 

Market update at 11 AM: Indices have been trading higher since morning. Nifty has climbed a per cent while Sensex jumped over 500 points. Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap have also gained over 1.01 per cent & 1.67 per cent, respectively.   

Metals and IT are the prominent sectors that are supporting the market. Hindalco, UPL, JSW Steel, and Tech Mahindra are the top gainers amongst Nifty stocks. Meanwhile, Apollo Hospitals, Britannia, and Divi’s Labs are weak.   

The advance-decline ratio stands at 1,620: 298, favouring a bullish trend.
