 At the closing bell on July 19, the Sensex closed at 54,767.62, up by 0.5 per cent or 246.47 points, while the Nifty index closed at 16,340.55 up 0.4 per cent or 62.05 points. S&P BSE Smallcap closed stronger at 26,367.49 up by 0.88 per cent or 230 points.

At the closing bell on July 14, the Sensex closed at 53,416.15 down by 0.2 per cent or 98 points, while the Nifty index closed at 15,938.65, down 0.2 per cent or 28 points. S&P BSE Healthcare closed stronger at 22,545.44 up by 0.8 per cent or 168 points.

After a positive start, markets took a u-turn and traded in red with IT and Teck companies penalized the most. At the closing bell on July 13, the Sensex gave up 372.46 points or 0.4 per cent to close at 53,514.15, while the Nifty index lost 23.15 points or 0.1 per cent to settle below the 16000 mark at 15,966.65.

As the telecom sector is abuzz with the upcoming auction of fifth-generation or 5G telecom services including high-speed internet, the stocks in the sector are in action. The recent development of Adani Group bidding in the auction has caused a substantial stir as it would intensify competition in the enterprise services segment. Consequently, shares of Bharti Airtel were the biggest loser in the sector, losing 3 per cent in today’s trade. However, MTNL, ITI and Tejas Networks rallied on the bourses.  

An investment of Rs 1 lakh in 2020 would have now accumulated to Rs 20 lakh !
