Philips Carbon Black Limited (PCBL) reported its September quarter results today.Profit before tax for the company stood at Rs 72.47 crore in Q2FY21, which is 28.9 per cent lesser than the corresponding quarter last year. Profit after tax for Q2FY21 stood at Rs 57.55 crore, showing a YoY decrease of 25 per cent

We compared the performances of two indices namely, S&P 500 and S&P BSE 500. For this, we have taken their closing values to determine the returns from the beginning of 2020 to September 30, 2020, i.e. of almost nine months.

Hence, we analysed how much of BSE 500 universe is pledged, or has the promoter pledging increased or decreased as a trend? Here are the results of our analysis:

Reliance Industries’ weightage in the index has grown from around 5 per cent in September 2016 to nearly 14.90 per cent in September 2020. Whereas, the leader in 2016 i.e. HDFC Bank, which had a weightage of around 8 per cent in FY16, has more or less maintained its weightage of 8 per cent to 9 per cent.
