Metal index was the top loser in the NSE sectoral indices and tumbled more than 5 per cent from the previous close. This was majorly in the wake of continued fall in the global alumina prices which fell 3 per cent in today’s trade. The prices fell ahead of Alcoa workers’ decision to call-off the strike, which would ease alumina supply.

Indian auto stocks got a bear hug with the Auto index plunging nearly 14.8 per cent in September from its high to low. Going ahead, the next two months would be keenly watched on the back of festive sales during Dashera and Diwali where sales are expected to bounce back.

Uflex, the flexible packaging materials and solution company promoted by Flex International, announced the launch of its E-commerce website under the name FLEX BuzzR. With this, the company has forayed into the online space through its film manufacturing arm Flex Films.

Glenmark Pharma is said to have received zero observations from USFDA for its Baddi plant. The stock opened flat to negative, but bounced back 2.5 per cent in the first 1.5 hours and is currently trading up by 1 per cent at 12:54 hours. 

Despite a huge turmoil in the benchmark indices, majorly led by the NBFCs which also dragged the Nifty IT index 1.4 per cent, the giants TCS and Wipro maintained upsurge and hit record high levels.
